Reports and Recommendations of the City Manager
1.

 Approval is recommended to issue a purchase order to Altec Industries, Inc., in the amount of $82,254.00 for a hydraulic aerial device with service body for the Power & Light Department.



2.

Approval is recommended to issue a purchase order to Altec Industries, Inc., in the amount of $102,159 for a digger derrick and service body for the Power & Light Department.



3.

Approval is recommended to issue a purchase order, in the amount of $37,038.50, to Ed M. Feld Equipment Company for fire truck equipment; and a second purchase order in the amount of $7,199.00, to Conrad Fire Equipment for a thermal camera.  Total of the two purchase orders is $44,237.50.



4.

Approval is recommended to enter into a price agreement (288-08) with Harmony Printing & Development Company for printing of Parks Department Recreation and Leisure Catalogs for the period of August 1, 2008, through July 31, 2009. At the sole option of the City, the agreement may be extended for two, one-year periods. Expenditures will not exceed budgeted amounts.



5.

Approval is recommended to enter into a price agreement (209-08) with Kansas City Iron and Metal, for the sale of surplus scrap metal, for the period of August 1, 2008, through July 31, 2009, with two, one-year renewal options.

08-136 - 1R.  An ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement with Smoky Hills Wind Project II, LLC, for the annual purchase of 15 MW of energy during the 20-year term of the Agreement, from the Smoky Hills II wind generation station for the Power & Light Department.



08-137 - 1R.  An ordinance amending Section 3.03.007 of Chapter 3 of the City Code to adjust the number limit for dogs and cats which may be kept at one location.



08-138 - 1R.  An Ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with the firm of Akins Excavating for the 24th and Vermont Storm and Sanitary Sewer projects for an amount not to exceed $305,799.00 and authorizing the City Manager to approve minor change orders not to exceed $30,500.00.

Emergency Purchase Order 126169 was issued to Teledyne Monitor Labs in the amount of $35,595 to replace a damaged continuous opacity monitor for Blue Valley Unit 3.



2.

Emergency Purchase Order 39272 in the amount of $28,254.50 was issued to Innovative Combustion Technologies for tuning the Blue Valley Unit 3 to achieve the lowest possible Nitrogen Oxide (“NOx”) emissions, for the Power & Light Department (IPL).
