Reports and Recommendations of the City Manager

  1. Council action is requested to issue a purchase order to Municipal Emergency Services (MES), in the amount of $62,531.20  for the purpose of purchasing Forty (40) sets of Fire Bunker Gear for the Fire Department.

  2. Council action is requested to issue a purchase order to Enerfab, Inc., in the amount of $66,450.00 for filter wash water sluice gates at the Courtney Bend Water Plant for the Water Department.

  3. Approval is recommended to amend the Schedule of Fees for the City of Independence to be effective July 01, 2018.

  4. Council action is requested to enter into a price agreement (103-18) for janitorial services for the Power & Light Department (IPL). The agreement contains four, one-year renewal options. Expenditures will not exceed budgeted amounts.

  5. Council action is requested to issue a purchase order to Altec Industries, in the amount of $75,125.00, for a 40 ft. Aerial Truck for the Power and Light Department.

  6. Approval is requested to renew the City's excess workers' compensation insurance program with coverage provided by Safety National Casualty Corporation, maintaining the $1,000,000 deductible for each accident, effective July 1, 2018, with an estimated annual premium of $160,197.

Approval is requested to accept the renewal proposal submitted by Lockton Companies, Inc. regarding the City’s property and boiler and machinery insurance program, effective July 1, 2018, with an estimated annual cost of $1,007,542. This includes $972,542 for $400,000,000 in insurance coverage and $35,000 for engineering services fees at power production facilities.
