Item No. 1 - Approval is requested to issue Change Order 6 for $105,000 to Purchase Order 134587 to Strategic Advisory Group for additional brand imaging services for the Tourism Department.

Item No. 2 - Approval is recommended to enter into a price agreement (158-13) with Douglas C. Christianson, for technical services for the Police Department, with four, one-year renewal options. Expenditures will not exceed budgeted amount.

An ordinance authorizing acceptance of the 2013 Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Memorandum of Understanding for the Investigative Support Center initiative, and related documents, with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, for a grant award in the amount of $58,980.00; making the necessary appropriations; authorizing future change orders for additional funding and/or time extensions; and authorizing certain future appropriations.

An ordinance authorizing the City Clerk to do all things necessary for the holding of a primary and general city election within the City of Independence, Missouri, in compliance with the Charter adopted by said City, as amended, and all state laws in reference thereto, and to certify to the Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners all names of candidates properly presented by petitions under the Charter and for the holding of a primary election on February 4, 2014, and a general election on April 8, 2014.

Item B. - The Council is expected to adjourn to an Adjourned Meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2013 in the Council Chambers.

Item No. 1. The City Clerk has received notification that the City Manager has accepted a grant through the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) for a Nani Intelligent Detection System (NIDS) valued at $7,500.00, for the Fire Department.  This system will enhance the department's capabilities to deter and/or respond to acts of terrorism and other disasters.

Item No. 2. The City Clerk has received notification that the City Manager has accepted a grant from the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission in the amount of $2,500.00, for the Police Department, for the period of September 15-September 21, 2013.  These funds will be used to reimburse overtime worked by police officers while enforcing traffic laws to enforce the speed, aggressive driving, DWI and of course, Seat Belt and Child Safety Restraint laws.
