1.

Approval is requested on the application of AMA Enterprises, LLC to transfer and upgrade the existing liquor license to an Unlimited Retailer of Intoxicating Liquor in the Original Package License and Sunday Sales License for Discount Smokes & Liquor located at 3459 S Sterling Avenue. Approval is recommended to enter into a price agreement (342.12) with Vac-Con Services to provide vacuum truck services for the Power & Light Department. This is a one-year agreement with two, one-year renewal options.  Expenditures will not exceed budgeted amounts.

12-746 - A resolution of the City Council of Independence in support of Heritage Green Limited Partnership, an affiliate of Evergreen Partners, LLC, for the substantial rehabilitation and preservation of Heritage House Apartments as affordable housing for senior citizens.

12-084 - 2R. An ordinance amending Articles of Chapter 5 and Chapter 11, of the Code of the City of Independence, Missouri, pertaining to Mobile Food Unit definitions, licenses, permits and operations.  (At the August 20, 2012 Council meeting this ordinance was postponed to the September 4, 2012 Regular Council meeting.)  Ordinance amended at the September 4, 2012, Council meeting.

12-516 - An emergency ordinance authorizing Amendment No. 2 to a contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, to renew the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Grant for $121,901.00 for the period August 10, 2012 through June 30, 2013; authorizing future change orders; making the necessary appropriations.

The Council is expected to convene in an Executive Session at 5:15 pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2012, prior to the Council Meeting, in Conference Room A, on matters of Litigation, as permitted by Section 610.021(1), RSMo.

The City Clerk has received notification that the City Manager has accepted a grant from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in the amount of $44,720.81, for the Health Department, for the period of October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013.  These funds allows staff to address health, injury and safety concerns of children in childcare centers through the Child Safe Program, provide education to low income mothers on health and safety issues for infants, provide asthma education to third through fifth graders, conduct immunizations audits of childcare centers, and work with community partners on teen pregnancy prevention education.
