1.

Approval is recommended to enter into a price agreement (266-12) with Athletic & Rehabilitation Center (ARC) for physical abilities testing for various departments for the period of August 1, 2012, through July 31, 2013, with four, one-year renewal options.  Expenditures will not exceed budgeted amounts.

12-737 - A resolution amending the employer and member distribution of premium rates for the Stay Well Health Care plans and dental insurance plans offered to City employees, retirees, and COBRA qualified participants for the 2013 plan year with an effective date of January 1, 2013.

12-513 - An ordinance increasing appropriations in the amount of $874,846.88 in the Operating and Capital Budgets for various departments and capital projects, transferring appropriations in the amount of $132,500.00 in the Capital Budget for the Public Works Department, and making other budget adjustments as necessary for the City of Independence, Missouri, for the Fiscal Year July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2012. Appropriation ordinances may receive two readings and be voted on at the same meeting.

The Council is expected to convene in an Executive Session at 5:15 pm, Monday, August 6, 2012, prior to the Council Meeting, in Conference Room A, on matters of Litigation, as permitted by Section 610.021(1), RSMo.

The City Clerk has received notification that the City Manager has accepted a "I'm Pet Friendly" Spay/Neuter Grant from the Missouri Department of Agriculture in the amount of $2,000.00, for the Health Department, for the period of July 2012-June 2013.  These funds will used to help pay for all or part of spay/neuters of pets for residents that cannot afford these services.

Purchase Order 136245, in the amount of $91,592.20, was issued to SKC Communications under a cooperative agreement with the State of Kansas, for telephone system upgrades for the Power & Light Department.

Purchase Order 136166 was issued to John Deere Company in the net amount of $60,452.76.  This purchase order includes the purchase of two (2) John Deere 5085M utility tractors for the Park Maintenance Division at a total cost of $95,902.76 less offsetting revenues for the trade-in of various equipment items for a total credit of $35,450.00.

The City Clerk has received notification that the City Manager has accepted a grant from the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission in the amount of $1,500.00, for the Police Department, for the period of August 17-September 3, 2012.  These funds will be used to reimburse overtime worked while conducting aggressive driving enforcement activities during the upcoming holidays.
