Reports and Recommendations of the City Manager
1.

Approval is recommended to issue a purchase order to Alstom Grid, Inc., in the amount of $206,498.00, for two 69kV Synchronous SF6 Circuit Breakers for the Power & Light Department.

Approval is recommended to issue Change Order 1 to Purchase Order 129788, in the amount of $49,450.00, for additional engineering services to complete the Blue Valley Units 1, 2 & 3 Auxiliary Electrical Systems and Switchgear Improvements Project.

Approval is recommended to issue a purchase order, in the amount of $89,100.00, to JCI Industries for circulating pump and motor repairs to Pump 1-1 for the Power & Light Department.  Approval is also requested for an additional $178,200 for later repairs to Pumps 1-2 and 1-3.

Approval is recommended to enter into a price agreement (143-12) with Thyssen Krupp Elevator for elevator maintenance for the various City departments for the period February 6, 2012, through January 31, 2013, with two, one-year renewal options. Expenditures will not exceed budgeted amounts.

Approval is recommended to issue a purchase order, in the amount of $89,048.00, to Enerfab, Inc., for relay protection upgrade installation for the Power & Light Department.

Approval is recommended to enter into price agreements (203-12) with Vance Brothers, Inc., and Hot Mix Materials, Inc., to provide hot mix asphaltic concrete for the Public Works Department for the period March 1, 2012, through February 28, 2013. Expenditures will not exceed budgeted amounts.

12-706 - A resolution recognizing Steve Schmidli, Detective, in the Police Department, as the Employee of the Month for February, 2012.




ORDINANCES

12-004 - 2R. An ordinance authorizing Change Order Number 1(final) to the contract for the 2011 Street Improvements Program, with Superior Bowen Asphalt, for an increase of $402,637.60.



12-005 - 2R. An ordinance authorizing a contract with Radmacher Brothers Excavating for the Redwood and Ute storm and sanitary sewer project, for an amount not to exceed $1,061,905.46: authorizing future minor change orders for an amount not to exceed $106,000.00 and/or time extensions: and making the necessary appropriations.



12-006 - 2R. An ordinance vacating the unimproved right-of-way of Kiger Road between lots 7 and 11 of the resurvey of Stanhaven Addition, and lots 10 and 11 of Petrovic Addition, both being subdivisions located in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri.



12-007 - 2R. An ordinance finding, determining and declaring the necessity of acquiring general utility easements and temporary construction and grading easements for the Rock Creek interceptor improvements – Segment 3; authorizing the negotiation and eminent domain proceedings if necessary; approving the plans and specifications for the project; authorizing the use of experts as needed; authorizing and directing the execution of documents and the payment of funds to property owners or others holding property rights, in conjunction with the project; and making the necessary appropriations.

12-501 - An emergency ordinance authorizing acceptance of a Hazard Mitigation Grant in the amount of $1,694,442.00 from the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency for replacement of overhead residential service lines with underground conductors; authorizing the provision of local matching funds in the amount of $564,820.00; and making the necessary appropriations.
