|AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET|
|BILL NO. 17-059||Postponed Indefinitely|
17-059 - 1R. An ordinance finding, determining and declaring the necessity of acquiring certain fee simple title for the property described as Rockwood Golf Course; directing the city manager to negotiate the terms of acquisition; and allocating city council goals funds for administrative expenses related to negotiations. [Postponed from June 5, 2017 Council meeting. Motion made to postpone indefinitely.]
Staff recommends postponing the item until September 18, 2017.
The ordinance was requested by Councilmember Van Camp. On May 15, 2017, the City Council referred the item to the city manager for further review with the Parks/Recreation/Tourism Department and the Parks Commission. The Council requested a presentation on June 5, 2017, regarding highest and best uses for the property if acquired by the City. Staff has begun the initial evaluation of options and costs for this property but is not ready to make a presentation or recommendations. More time is requested to complete the analysis. The Parks Commission is not scheduled to meet again until August 10, 2017. In addition, the summer season is the busiest time of year for the department. Due to several vacancies in key positions, staff are stretched thin preparing for peak summer usage in the park and summer programs. Staff recommends postponing the item until September 18, 2017. The postponement will give staff time to work this analysis in between other duties and to incorporate input from the Parks Commission.
