BILL NO. 17-736Res.No:          6208

Agenda Title:

17-736 - A resolution affirming and making appointments to the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.

Staff recommends the Committee be made up of a total of 9 members of the community; a Committee this size would be manageable and could be productive.  Staff recommends the Mayor and each Council member select one individual; the remaining 2 members would be selected by the whole Council.
Executive Summary:

At the March 27, 2017, City Council Study Session, staff presented an overview of the proposed public engagement for the Comprehensive Plan.  As part of that presentation, staff presented that Shockey Consulting Services would be using a Steering Committee to provide guidance for the Plan.

The Committee would represent different areas of the City as well as different sections of the plan – Economic Development, Neighborhoods, Community Identity (i.e., historic areas and tourism), and Public Facilities (i.e., infrastructure, public buildings, technology, natural resources).

Community Development staff would be the liaisons for the Steering Committee.

The purpose of the Steering Committee is to provide leadership and guidance during the public engagement and planning process of the Comprehsnive Plan update.
