Over the last year, the City of Independence has engaged in a rebranding effort to review the existing perceptions of the City by citizens, stakeholders and neighbors in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Over the last year the citizen-led Brand Steering Committee has reviewed this project, providing key insight and input to the contractor at each stage. In January, the City Council was presented the findings of this Branding research and on February 11 saw the logo proposed as part of this effort. The Brand implementation and adoption will take place in phases throughout the City and with input and collaboration from community stakeholders. The tagline "A Great American Story" will be used to highlight the many historic stories that make our community unique while also looking toward those efforts moving us forward.
