The existing box culvert was inspected and there was a section found to be deteriorated and needing to be replaced. Additionally, portions of the box culvert required preventative maintenance repairs. A design to remove the deteriorated section of the box culvert and complete the preventative maintenance repairs was completed, representing the Noland Road Culvert Improvements Project. This project includes installation of 31 linear feet of 8-ft. by 6-ft. storm sewer box culvert, 1 stormwater structure, 50 square ft. of stone replacement and tuckpointing repairs of the box culvert, and all appurtenant work for the completion of the project.
There were two construction bids for the project:
Tasco Construction (Bid was withdrawn) $ 160,819.00
Rodriguez Mechanical $ 282,370.00
Engineer’s Estimate $ 283,400.00
References for Rodriguez Mechanical were contacted and reviewed. Rodriguez Mechanical has the capacity to complete this work and has completed similar work in the metropolitan area and their bid is within the Engineer’s estimate. Their bid is being recommended for this contract.
