Executive Summary:

Approval is requested for a construction contract for the Sidewalks to Parks Project (No. 70110807). The project makes improvements at three locations near parks.  A trail will be extended at Davis Park and Fairmount Park. Missing sidewalk locations will be completed near Glendale Park. A missing trail segment will be completed along Lee's Summit Road at the trail for Waterfall Park. The contract would be with V.F. Anderson Builders at a cost of $278,296.00.
Background:

This action would approve a construction contract with V.F. Anderson Builders for the Sidewalks to Parks Project (No. 70110807) at a cost of $278,296.00. The Sidewalks to Parks are a Street Sales Tax Program to improve sidewalks and trails at parks. This project makes improvements at three different locations. A trail extension will be made to connect Davis Park and Fairmount Park. Two sections of missing sidewalks will be built near Glendale Park. A section of trail will be built along Lee's Summit Road just south of the Waterfall Park Trail. There are seven construction bids for the project.

V.F. Anderson Builders has successfully completed other construction contracts for the City. Their bid is being recommended for approval. The engineer's estimate for the construction is $369,565.58. The action would approve minor change order approval by the City Manager not to exceed $27,829.60 and/or time extensions.  The contract provides for construction completion within 90 calendar days, excluding December 16 through March 15. The project would be funded by the Street Sales Tax fund.  There are existing appropriations available to pay for the improvements.



Fiscal Impact:

The Council action will obligate $306,125.60 in Street Sales Tax funds for this contract on the Sidewalks to Parks Project (No. 70110807).
