The Police Department needs to equip new patrol cars with new mobile data terminals (MDT's). The older MDT's have reached the end of their life cycle and components are no longer supported for repair or replacement by the manufacturer.
The Police Department is purchasing 15 new mobile computers and associated mounts from BMS for $104,561.10. BMS meets the Police Department specifications for their mobile computer stations. Public Sales Tax funds will be used for this purchase.
These units will be purchased through Broadcast Microwave Services/Data911 Products (BMS) who has a contract through the General Services Administration (GSA). The contract number is GS-35F-0407R.
Per section 8.06.004, Paragraph 4 of the City Code states competitive bidding is not required when purchases are made through a cooperative contract established by a government purchasing entity or cooperative. The cooperative bids used will have been established pursuant to RSMo. 70.220 or generally accepted governmental purchasing practices through the competitive bidding process.
