The City Charter requires an independent annual financials audit. In addition to the annual audit, the selected firm will provide an annual audit of the Crackerneck Creek Transportation Development District (TDD) and Events Center Community Improvement District (CID).
The Procurement Division issued Request for Proposals (RFP) 382-18 for an annual contract to provide professional auditing services for the Finance Department. Five responses were received by the May 8, 2018, RFP closing date. An evaluation committee comprised of City staff evaluated the responses using the evaluation criteria published in the RFP: 1) mandatory elements (independent, licensed, demonstrated continuing education of firm’s staff, no conflict of interest); 2) evidence of experience of audit team & references with similar projects; 3) complete responses to scope of work and RFP requirements; 4) price.
RubinBrown LLP received the highest aggregate score. RubinBrown is an independent auditing firm with demonstrated experience auditing public sector clients and public utilities including Johnson County Water, City of Lee’s Summit, and Kansas Board of Public Utilities (BPU). The firm will provide free educational resources such as quarterly CPE credit seminars, and will provide a detailed plan to ensure quality control of the audit process. Staff contacted references and received positive responses from each. Staff recommends award of a contract to RubinBrown LLP.
