An ordinance authorizing an agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for the public Transit Operating Assistance Grant in the amount of $16,731.00 for operating expenses associated with transit service for the period July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019; and making the necessary appropriations.
Staff recommends approval of the agreement for fixed-route transit operating assistance for fiscal year 2018-2019.
Transit operating assistance from the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is a program offered to cities and agencies providing fixed-route transit service in their respective service areas. Transit service will remain as it is today. The amount of the award is $16,731 and is applied beginning immediately through June 30, 2019 until funds are exhausted.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission announced availability of limited funding for the operation of fixed-route transit systems for fiscal year 2018-2019. The Commission awarded the City of Independence $16,731 for transit operated in the City.
Matching funds are not required as part of this grant agreement, and the grant will provide reimbursement for actual expenses as they occur.
The Public Transit Operating Assistance Grant will off-set previously approved budgeted costs for the operation of public transit system in Independence.
