Per contractual agreement, the Fire Department is bound to provide each firefighter with two sets of bunker gear to aid with the department’s cancer prevention program. The Fire Department is requesting to purchase 40 sets of fire bunker gear. This gear will replace 40 sets that are old or worn beyond minimum safe wearing standards.
Per section 8.06.004, Paragraph 4 of the City Code states competitive bidding is not required when purchases are made through a cooperative contract established by a government purchasing entity or cooperative. The cooperative bids used will have been established pursuant to RSMo. 70.220, or generally accepted governmental purchasing practices through the competitive bidding process.
A quote was solicited and received from Municipal Emergency Services (MES). MES holds a competitively bid contract through NPP Gov, a national government cooperative purchasing organization that focuses on contracting for fire and law enforcement organizations.
Approval of this item authorizes the Procurement Manager to issue change orders up to a total of ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount for each order, providing appropriations are available.
