In June 2016, the City acquired the property at 1631 E. Salisbury Road after the former Beauty Rest ceased operation in 2014. After acquiring the 0.91 acre property, the 11 motel structures were demolished due to the dangerous and deteriorated building conditions.
From August 2016 through October 2017, the City issued the Development of Surplus Property for Salisbury and Holder Property Request for Proposal three (3) times in which the City sought a developer for the vacant property owned by the City with the intent of infill residential development to complement the surrounding neighborhood. In each instance, the City was unsuccessful in finding a developer.
In January 2018, the City again issued the Development of Surplus Property for Salisbury and Holder Property Request for Proposal. A single response was received from Wilson Concrete & Construction LLC with the intent to develop single family homes on the property. Wilson Concrete plans to divide the property into 3 lots (each will be approximately 72 feet wide), extend the utility lines to accommodate the three properties and construct a 1,500 square foot single family residence on each lot.
