Council action is requested to issue a purchase order to Altec Industries, in the amount of $260,714.00, for a 48 ft. Digger Derrick Truck for the Transmission and Distribution Division of Power and Light.

Staff is seeking approval for replacement of unit #5803 a digger derrick truck with a 48 foot reach. This is a fleet replacement of an existing digger derrick truck that has reached the end of its 12-year life-cycle and has been budgeted for replacement in the 2017/2018 Power & Light Department budget. The vehicle is assigned to the Transmission & Distribution Division for constructing and maintaining the electric utility’s infrastructure in the 48 foot range. Maintenance cost incurred over the past year total $7,057.07 with a lifetime maintenance cost of $16,977.99. Vehicle miles are 80,800.0 and hours used are 10,792.
Per section 8.06.004, Paragraph 4 of the City Code states competitive bidding is not required when purchases are made through a cooperative contract established by a government purchasing entity or cooperative. The cooperative bids used will have been established pursuant to RSMo. 70.220 or generally accepted governmental purchasing practices through the competitive bidding process. The purchase order, if approved, will be issued against the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) agreement 031014-ALT.
Approval of this item authorizes the Procurement Manager to issue change orders up to a total of ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount, providing appropriations are available.
