BILL NO. 18-716Ord.No:          6297

Agenda Title:

18-716 - A resolution supporting the application for federal assistance from the Recreational Trail Program for the purpose of the Truman Trail Connection Project-Phase1.

Staff recommends approval.
Executive Summary:

The City is applying for federal funds through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Recreational Trails Program for the Truman Trail Connection Project-Phase 1. If awarded a grant, this resolution shows the commitment of the City to match 20% of the funds awarded and operate and maintain the project for at least 25 years.

The City is applying for these grant funds for a project that would create a quarter-mile trail connection from the Truman Presidential Library & Museum to the southern edge of the McCoy Inclusive Play Park. The trail would be the first phase of a larger trail connection project that will ultimately connect many areas of historic interest and serve as a transportation corridor throughout the City.

Fiscal Impact:

If awarded a grant, the City will be required to match 20% of the funds awarded. Matching funds are available in the Parks & Recreation Sales Tax Fund.
