|AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET|
Council action is requested to authorize the City Manager to approve and enter into a Pipeline Crossing Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad for construction of the Pacific Avenue Sanitary Sewer Main Project (No. 70301601) for an amount not to exceed $7,100.00.
Approval of the request is recommended.
Approval is requested for a Pipeline Crossing Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad for the Pacific Avenue Sanitary Sewer Main Project (No. 70301601). This agreement contracts with the Railroad that only sanitary sewage will be transmitted through the proposed pipe, that construction will comply with Union Pacific’s specifications, as reviewed and agreed to by the Railroad, as well as continued maintenance and operation of the sewer pipe by the City. The Pacific Avenue Sanitary Sewer Main Project relocates sanitary sewage flows from an existing 118 year-old cast iron pipe currently under the railroad spur to a new sewer line to be installed under this project.
The existing 118 year-old cast iron pipe under the Union Pacific Railroad located near the intersection of S. Pleasant Avenue and W. Pacific Avenue was found to be restricted. A design to relocate this segment of pipe and abandon the existing restricted pipe was completed, representing the Pacific Avenue Sanitary Sewer Main project. The contract with Union Pacific Railroad agrees to the construction of the sanitary sewer main in compliance with Union Pacific’s design standards, restrictions of conveyed materials through the pipe to sanitary sewer flows, continued maintenance and operations of the pipe by the City, and agrees to pay a one-time license fee of $7,100.00.
Council approved a construction contract with Radmacher Brothers Excavating Inc. for the Pacific Avenue Sanitary Sewer Main Project on August 21, 2017 (Ordinance #18795).
The pipeline crossing agreement would obligate $7,100.00 of Sewer funds for the Pacific Avenue Sanitary Sewer Main Project (No. 70301601).
