An ordinance authorizing an agreement with the Missouri Highways And Transportation Commission for the Public Transit Operating Assistance Grant in the amount of $15,781.00 for operating expenses associated with the intra-city transit service known as IndeBus for the period July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018; and making the necessary appropriations.
Staff recommends approval of the agreement for fixed-route transit operating assistance for fiscal year 2017-2018. The fixed route transit system, known as IndeBus will continue service as it does today.
Transit operating assistance from the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is a program offered to cities and agencies providing fixed-route transit service in their respective service areas. Service along the six intra-city routes will remain as it is today. The amount of the award is $15,781 and is applied beginning immediately through June 30, 2018 until funds are exhausted.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission announced availability of limited funding for the operation of fixed-route transit systems for fiscal year 2017-2018. The Commission awarded the City of Independence $15,781 for the local transit system known as IndeBus.
Matching funds are not required as part of this grant agreement, and the grant will provide reimbursement for actual expenses as they occur.
The Public Transit Operating Assistance Grant will off-set previously approved budgeted costs for the operation of the IndeBus public transit system in Independence.
