Agenda Title:

17-779 - A resolution establishing the Bargaining Unit Pay Plan for city employees as enumerated herein on the 5th day of September 2017.

Approval of this resolution is recommended.
Executive Summary:

Amend Section 8. Class Title Changes for positions represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 53.

Adjustments are recommended to the pay plan to address Class Titles for maintenance and clerical positions represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 53. 

Many job descriptions represented by the IBEW have not been updated since 1993. Changes were made to the contents of several job descriptions and class titles to more accurately describe the current duties, responsibilities, required job experience, training and licenses. These changes will make it much easier to hire, supervise and retain qualified employees in these positions. In addition, updated class titles and job descriptions will provide accurate information when performing salary comparisons with comparable municipalities. 

Changes were initially presented to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 53 on May 30, 2017, and discussed in subsequent conversations during the summer. 


The following positions are recommended for reclassified position titles:

Fiscal Impact:

There is no fiscal impact from making class title changes.
