The existing 118 year-old cast iron pipe under the Union Pacific railroad was found to be restricted. A design to relocate this segment of pipe and abandon the existing restricted pipe was completed, representing the Pacific Avenue Sanitary Sewer Main project. This project includes installation of 312 feet of sanitary sewer pipe, one new sanitary sewer structure, and other related construction.
There were five construction bids for the project:
Radmacher Bros Exc., Co. Inc. $443,916.00
Linaweaver Construction $445,940.00
Pyramid Excavation $591,435.16
Wiedenmann, Inc. $645,800.00
SHEDIGS IT, LLC $892,776.00
Although the low bid exceeded the engineer's estimate, adequate funds are available from stormwater debt financing proceeds to complete the work without jeopardizing other projects. Staff evaluated options to rebid or value engineer the project but does not believe that better pricing could be obtained due to current market conditions. Radmacher Brothers Excavating Company Inc. has successfully completed other construction contracts for the City. Their bid is being recommended for this contract.
